Christmas Season

Well as we pack away the impedimenta of Christmas until next year it’s perhaps times to reflect on the Christmas season at All Saints.

We started with our Carol service taken by Sue Auckland, a nicely filled church represented by all ages enjoyed a very festive celebration which included a number of our favourite Carols and as usual concluded with festive fare which all enjoyed before departing into the night.

Nigel decided that all the Benefice should have a Christmas Day Service with ours taken by Gerald Epps assisted by Lynda Mansfield. All was ok until about 4.00pm on Christmas Eve when I got a call to say that there was no electricity at the Church. So up I went and tried every switch/plug I could find but to no avail. It was only when I came out that I noticed that quite clearly two of the three electricity cables to the church were no longer connected. Ho hum, festive thinking caps to the fore and plan B which of course could not include any music or the industrial heating procured for the season.

Christmas morning saw a good gathering of all ages in a somewhat chilly church with all enjoying a said service of Communion. The hymns chosen were all really well known carols and sung with considerable enthusiasm. All in all a lovely family service which really did set up this very special day. Thank you both Gerald and Lynda.
