The 10th saw us all gather at All Saints for our Christingle Carol Service. It was lovely to welcome so many of the village both young and old. As the serrvice progressed so the Nativity Scene was built with youngsters coming up with the appropriate individuals. Once completed we had the handing out of christingles by Lynda Mansfield who was taking the service. All went well until during her explaination Lynda noticed each Christingle had only had three sticks as the apposed to 4 representing the 4 points of the compass and the 4 seasons, ours only had three….. which got a laugh.
Now onto the lighting of the candles, Lynda light her taper with the aim to light each Christingle in turn…..all of a sudden the taper took on the appearnce of a flame thrower!!!! much to the consternation of both the children and their parents. However order was restored with the candles being light from each other. Once all alight we had a lights out singing of Silent Night which was beautiful with all the children at the front with their candles safely alight.
Well as you might see by now it was a lovely service followed by mulled wine and festive comestibles so a chance for all to catch up which was lovely. Thank you so much to Lynda for masterminding it and Chris for the Christingles
Days to do before th big dy are getting few so my I close with our very best wishes to you and your families for a happy and family filled Christmas.
