Church News

The other day a notice appeared on a telephone pole in Thorpe Abbotts stating that a vintage car rally would be coming through the village so the PCC turned to and organised “T at the Pump”. Essentially a chance to gather by the village pump, drink tea and eat cake whilst watching the cars come through. We were blessed with lovely weather and a good number came to enjoy cake and chat about cars.

The Churchyard is currently looking at its most interesting as flowers wild various come and go with the orchids now just going over to be replaced by the two species of bedstraw and the dark mulleins which have appeared only in the last couple of years. Talking of the churchyard I failed to mention in the last edition that we had had a very successful cleanup up afternoon with the trees well trimmed and the edges given a really good tidy up, so a very belated thank you to all those who came up and gave us a hand.

Summer along with warm weather means that the grass does not stop growing hence the mowing team remain hard at work to keep the church yard looking nice. Coming up we have the Diocese Summer Trail and of course the Open Churches week 3-10 August when we will make sure that both the church and its church yard are looking at their very best.
